Practitioner self suspends as questions asked about $3m

Back in 2019 iNO reported on the appointment of a reviewing liquidator to assess the files of a practitioner located in south western Sydney.

Naturally enough the findings of such reviews are confidential but the outcomes that flow from them can’t be concealed permanently.

Last year ASIC imposed a restraint on the practitioner’s registration such that he couldn’t accept any further insolvency appointments, starting from April 2022. No date was provided to indicate when the restraint would end.

In July 2022, the practitioner’s external accountants Kelly + Partners advised ASIC that it no longer acted for him and that it had withdrawn its consent for the premises it occupies to be listed as the registered address of the embattled practitioner’s insolvency firm.

Then this month a new entry was added to the details of the liquidator’s registration, showing that the subject of that 2019 review, Peter Andrew Amos, had voluntary suspended his liquidator’s registration as of February 4, 2023.

ASIC did not respond to inquiries by our deadline but reliable sources are hearing that authorities may have questions in regards to the whereabouts of up to $3 million in allegedly missing funds. iNO’s sources also said that there are serious concerns about Amos’s health.

iNO makes no suggestion of wrongdoing and sought to clarify the rumours yesterday by calling the offices of Amos Insolvency.

An unidentified person who took the call said the 47 year old “is unwell” and agreed to pass on iNO’s inquiries.

Sources also indicated that Amos’s existing appointments were to be transferred to recent EY recruit and ATO favourite Robyn Duggan. She did not respond to calls or emails seeking confirmation.
