PKF Culls, BRI benefits

PKF
Retiring PKF partner Mark Roufeil.
PKF
Heading to BRI Ferrier. Innis Cull.

While use of the term Cull to describe what’s just happened at PKF might not be precise, it’s the trigger de jour for Sydney beachgoers, alpine flora nuts and software investors. And iNO’s nothing if not responsive to the neuroses of the day.

To that end we have in the space of a week sniffed out indicators of the departure of two senior practitioners.

One’s being lost to retirement, though the lucky bugger’s only 60. The other to defection.

The imminently retired Mark Roufeil told us he wants start spending more time travelling with the misses.

No itineraries were shared but we have no doubt Mr and Mrs Roufeil won’t be spending much time wondering how Innis Cull is getting on at BRI Ferrier, which the Federal Court heard on Monday was the legally trained liquidator’s and Melbourne-based consultant’s intended destination.

The matter came before a judge because court approval was required to enable Cull to resign as liquidator of multiple companies and as trustee of six bankrupt estates. They’ll stay with PKF.

Because Cull’s background is in the law rather than accounting he is restricted from taking sole corporate appointments meaning there’ll be slack PKF seniors like Glenn Franklin, Jason Stone and Paul Allen might need to pick up.

But you’d think Cull’s legal training might help save a lot of expenses.

No doubt BRI Ferrier will find out.
