New president for AIIP

The Association of Independent Insolvency Practitioners (AIIP) has a new president following the retirement of Shabnam Amirbeaggi.

Those enamoured of the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) will likely see much to gripe about in respect of her successor.

Those more concerned with ensuring that the organisation continues to be well managed will likely have not a qualm.

iNO understands that after 12 months of juggling competing personal and professional priorities the Crouch Amirbeaggi managing partner chose last week to hand the baton to AIIP foundation member John Morgan of BCR Advisory.

Currently in Cairns catching up with Geoff Davis, BCR’s point man in North Queensland, Morgan told iNO that he would avoid the risk of burnout associated with the volunteer position by allocating more of the work to board members, who include Anthony Warner, Trent McMillen, Schon Condon, Roland Robson, Simon Miller and Michael Hird.

Morgan said board member Kathleen Vouris of Hall Chadwick was already working on arrangements for the AIIP 2025 National Conference in Canberra in July.

Amirbeaggi’s retirement follows the departure some 12 months ago of foundation members Cliff Sanderson and David Levi.

She confirmed yesterday she would remain on the board for the time being to assist with the transition.

AIIP members wanting to get in the new president’s ear can corner Morgan at the AIIP end of year drinks at Bowery Lane on O’Connell Street on November 28.
