Following rumours of discontent which reached iNO’s ears last year we can confirm that mid-tier Hamilton Murphy has been hemorrhaging personnel in recent months.

Sydney practice head Trent Hancock defected to Jirsch Sutherland in January and brought Tom Lesnikowski with him.

In a statement Jirsch managing partner Bradd Morelli said Hancock had been appointed as partner and Lesnikowski as principal to its Sydney office.

“The addition of Trent and Tom to the team is a strategic move that strengthens our firm’s expertise at a time when the insolvency market is experiencing heightened activity,” Morelli said.

“We’re delighted to welcome two highly experienced insolvency and business recovery professionals to the team.

“Trent brings more than three decades of expertise, and I’ve had the privilege of working with him in previous roles, as have fellow Partners Trent Devine and Andrew Spring.

“The combined experience of Trent [Hancock] and Tom will further enhance our ability to support businesses navigating financial distress and restructuring challenges,” Morelli said.

In Queensland the Hamilton Murphy office decamped en masse with Ian Greet, Brendan Buchholz and Cobey Paxton joining SV Partners.

In the firm’s home state of Victoria Brett Goldman’s skedaddled to BDO while over in Perth, Trudie Walsh and Janice Tan have found a new home at HLB Mann Judd after leaving Hamilton Murphy in October.

As at time of publication Hamilton Murphy senior partner Stephen Dixon had not responded to iNO’s inquiries which focus on what had caused so many to leave in such a short period of time but Hamilton Murphy staff who spoke on condition of anonymity assured iNO they were happy.

It’s is if there’s a schism.
