Chamberlains Managing director Stipe Vuleta.

Chamberlains Law Firm, a full-service law firm based in Sydney, Canberra, Perth, and Newcastle has, as of August 19th, appointed two new directors and a special counsel.

The promotions and new hires reflect Chamberlains’ major expansion in recent years, which is also marked by the move to a larger office in Sydney CBD and the addition of a Norwest office.

Chamberlains has had a significant growth in the last year, which includes multiple acquisitions (Shaw McDonald Lawyers and Yeend & Associates), added locations (Perth and Newcastle) and new practice areas (Family Law, Personal Injury, and Intellectual Property).

To support this expansion, Chamberlains has relocated to a new, larger, office space in Sydney CBD as well as opened an additional office in Norwest to ease access for the increased Sydney clientele.

Chamberlains’ Managing Director, Stipe Vuleta, comments: “This is a very exciting time for us – while many other firms are downsizing or acting passively in the current climate, Chamberlains is growing and continuing to recruit and invest.

“The recent promotions and additional Norwest office are all in line with the quest to assist our business, private and government clients every step of the way in their legal lifecycle.”

Harold O’Brien, Director – Property, Corporate & Commercial

Chamberlains
Harold O’Brien.

Harold O’Brien joins Chamberlains from national firm Hunt & Hunt, with over 20 years of experience to head up a new Property, Corporate & Commercial division in Sydney.

Harold brings with him extensive knowledge across commercial property, media, retail, commercial, and telecommunications matters, where he among other things has acted and advised on: multiple major facility management agreements, data centre and telecommunications leases with licences involving some of the world’s largest information technology companies, commercial-, industrial- and retail property acquisitions, as well as  joint ventures, mergers and business acquisitions.

“I am extremely excited about joining such an energetic and motivated firm as Chamberlains and to work with the team to build a strong and successful Property and Corporate & Commercial practice in Sydney.” Harold said.

Jon May, Director – Estate Litigation and Personal Injury.

Chamberlians
Jon May.

Jon is joining Chamberlains’ board with extensive experience in the multinational and boutique law firm spaces and will head the Common Law team in Canberra as a Director.

Jon has excelled at Chamberlains since 2018 and was amongst other things responsible for building the firm’s Injury & Compensation practise from scratch to become one of the largest practices in the firm.

“Chamberlains has an excellent reputation for its strength and capability across the business and I am very pleased to be part of a firm which supports my professional aspirations and ambitions,” Jon said.

“The firm has had an exceptional growth in the last year and we see our Estate Litigation and Personal Injury Practice shortly becoming one of the leaders, if not the leader, in ACT.”

James d’Apice, Special Counsel – Litigation & Restructuring.

Chamberlains
James d’Apice.

The third appointment is of James d’Apice, a new starter in Sydney who has extensive experience in commercial litigation and is particularly known for advising clients and sharing knowledge in the sometimes confusing and often poorly understood area of corporate oppression.

James is regularly asked to contribute to the further education and professional development of other members of the legal community by presenting at conferences and professional development seminars.

James is also the sole contributor of his own creation ‘Coffee and a Case Note’ where he generously shares his knowledge through videos and podcasts.

This has seen James approached by numerous educational bodies expressing an interest in his expertise and the contemporary way he shares information.

Stipe expressed his excitement over newcomers Harold and James as well as the promotion of Jon May:

“The internal promotion of Jon May represents Chamberlains ongoing national growth.

“Jon will make an excellent addition to the board and we recognise his skills, dedication and hard work which has seen his practice grow significantly since his start in 2018.

“We are also extremely proud to have Harold O’Brien joining us as a Director from national firm Hunt & Hunt, strengthening our Property, Commercial & Corporate Team in the Sydney market.

“James d’Apice is a perfect fit for the forward-thinking culture at Chamberlains, combining his extensive expertise in commercial litigation with new and innovative ways of sharing his knowledge.

“We are very excited to see where these new appointments to the senior leadership team will take the firm”
